Agents check the registries for current versions
Agents now look up the newest provider and module versions, and a resource's reference, in the Terraform and OpenTofu registries, so they pin current versions and use arguments that exist.
Agents used to rely on what the model remembered about a provider. Now they check.
What's new
- Current versions. Agents look up the newest provider and module versions before pinning them.
- Real arguments. They read a resource's reference (arguments, attributes and examples) so they use arguments that exist.
- OpenTofu first. OpenTofu workspaces ask the OpenTofu registry first.
Self-hosted agent runners need outbound HTTPS to registry.terraform.io and api.opentofu.org; see Self-hosted Runners. Offline runs behave the same way; if a lookup is blocked, the agent says so and carries on. See Review & implement locally.
